A man in Florida has been charged with attempted first-degree murder following a gambling game that got out of control. Darius Antwan Scarlett went to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday to confess to shooting someone as a result of an argument; he was arrested and the gun was found in his vehicle.
Scarlett was struck when he tried to intervene
Scarlett was reportedly gambling on Saturday morning with two cousins when a disagreement arose. His cousins allegedly began hitting one another and Scarlett was struck when he tried to intervene.
The 33-year-old then went to his car to retrieve a handgun and proceeded to shoot one of the men. Deputies arrived on the scene to find the victim lying on the street with a gunshot wound to the temple. He told investigators that it was his cousin who shot him. The victim remains in critical but stable condition.
